Connectus, the McConnell Dowell and Downer Joint Venture, with the help from the City Rail Link team and T Galleria by DFS successfully held the ConnectAKL grand opening yesterday – with an art exhibition benefiting the Mission.
This art exhibition was organised to celebrate the completion of the Albert Street works between Customs Street and Wyndham Street and to thank people for their patience and support over the past four years.
The exhibition involves artworks from local artists with works showcasing the new connectivity of our city and giving Albert Street back to our community.
The exhibit is now open to the public until Saturday 31st October on level 3 of the T Galleria by DFS building (Customs Street East, Auckland Central).
All proceeds from the sale of this artwork will go to Auckland City Mission.
The background about the material used to create the artwork – During construction of the underground tunnel and streetscape works on Albert Street, plastic corflute signs were used to help the public navigate through the construction areas in the street and access their favourite businesses. The signs have served us and the public well and we wanted to use them in a new way to continue to connect communities and help us navigate our sense of home and place.
Happy bidding!
